Jennifer Browne

Dr. Jennifer Browne is the Director of Student Life at Memorial University, where she provides strategic leadership across a comprehensive portfolio that includes career development, accessibility services, orientation, student leadership, and student support. With more than twenty-five years of experience in higher education, her work has consistently centered on advancing career development and student success. She is widely recognized as a champion for career development in the many spaces she serves, consistently advocating for its critical role in student learning, workforce readiness, and community impact.

A recognized leader in the field, Dr. Browne is a Past Chair of the Canadian Education and Research Institute in Counselling (CERIC), and a past board member of CACUSS (Canadian Association of College and University Student Services) and CACEE (Canadian Association for Career Educators and Employers). In addition, she serves as Editor of the Canadian Journal of Career Development, contributing to the advancement and dissemination of research and best practices that shape the field nationally and internationally. She maintains strong connections across Canada and globally through active engagement in professional associations and board leadership roles.

An active scholar-practitioner, she serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University and as a part-time Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at Western University. Her research focuses on skill development and awareness, innovative work-integrated learning, school to work transition and student affairs leadership, bridging theory and practice to strengthen career development and education.

In her free time, Jennifer enjoys cheering on her children from the sidelines at their many sporting activities and walking the beaches in Newfoundland with her family and their dog, Finn, in search of beach glass and other seaside treasures.
